The student will create a table of data to form a scatterplot. The student will determine the equation of the exponential curve of best fit and its correlation coefficient.
Real world application
An exponential regression with strong correlation can be used to make estimations and predictions. This enables a biological researcher to extrapolate growth of certain bacterium or city planners to measure future population growth.
Click “New Point” and use the keypad to enter a new point into the table. Once at least two coordinates are entered, click “Update Graph” to plot the points and generate the exponential curve of best fit, as well as the exponential regression equation for the line and the data’s correlation coefficient. “Reset Table” will clear all points from the table and graph.
