The student will create a table of data to form a scatterplot. The student will determine the equation of the line of best fit and its correlation coefficient.
Real world application
A line of best fit with strong correlation can be used to make estimations and predictions. This enables a researcher to interpolate data points, or a warehouse supplier to predict when a particular item will go out of stock.
Click “New Point” and use the keypad to enter a new point into the table. Once at least two coordinates are entered, click “Update Graph” to plot the points and generate the line of best fit, as well as the equation for the line and the data’s correlation coefficient. “Reset Table” will clear all points from the table and graph.
